Summer Book Blowout

Read the comic on Patreon.

Another mass shooting at an elementary school, with cops bungling the response and possibly making the body count of small children even higher. There are some other topics in here. Who cares.

The Senate’s already on vacation for the long weekend, hoping this all blows over and they can keep giving COVID funds to cops and continuing business as usual. Every normal person seems equal parts pissed and hopeless.

Try to find a way to enjoy a part of the unofficial start of summer!

Creeping Fa-SHUSH-ism

Republican states are wilding out with anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-trans, and anti-everyone-who-isn’t-them bills. With a Supreme Court ready to rubber stamp them, the only legislative way to stop them is for the Democratically controlled federal government to pass a law.

That’s not going to happen, so it’s up to those of us not targeted by these garbage laws to protest them and offer aid and support to their victims.

Texas Vigilantes

Mitch McConnell’s Supreme Court gutted Roe v. Wade in Texas and will soon do it in other states. Democrats are still insisting the only thing to be done is to vote. Voters busted their asses to give them a trifecta so they could pack the courts, and codify abortion rights into law RIGHT NOW, but they’d rather have the fundraising boogeyman to run against than do something useful.

Coronaversary Cards

The first anniversary gift is paper, and hopefully we’ll all be vaccinated by the second.

A whole year and over half a million dead because we couldn’t pay people to stay home and businesses to close last March. Senseless. Even with the end potentially in sight, governors are opening up their states for more surges, while the new Congress and President kiss centrists’ butts to water down a relief bill that was already too little, too late.

The Texas GOP’s Climate Emergency Tips

Hoping for a quick recovery to everyone in Texas except these guys!

I’ve lived in the Mid-Atlantic and even they don’t have the infrastructure to deal with snow or a prolonged cold snap, so what’s happening in the South is extra-horrifying. Add that to Texas’ electric grid being isolated from the rest of the country to escape regulations, and yikes. This is Katrina levels bad, with a year-long pandemic to boot.

5.6 million Texans voted for Biden, more than in any state in Northeast. I tried to focus my smug disdain solely on the politicians and corporations responsible, and not the people who are suffering.
