Marjorie Taylor Greene is saying more stupid, hateful shit, and it’s arguably not even the worst of the lies going around about the recent hurricanes and relief efforts. It’s especially demented to scapegoat innocent people when there are real humans to blame in the fossil fuel industry who’ve been denying what their own scientists have been saying about climate change for over forty years.

The climate crisis is here and now that denial won’t work, the conspiracy theories are going to do even more of the heavy lifting to stop what’s necessary to mitigate any of it; not to mention what they’ll do to otherize people forced to flee the next disaster or the countless ones that will follow.

Progress is being made though! The poorly named Inflation Reduction Act has done a lot to boost the already booming renewable energy industry. We just have to find a way to stop all those gains from going to A.I. so it can give dweebs a picture of Smurfette with big boobs.

Republicans’ Manual for Acting Normal

“Republicans are weird.” has gone mainstream after Kamala Harris bluntly stated this obvious fact. Previously, you’d only hear it in alt-weeklies, late night jokes, and all over social media because the mainstream media was too busy doing both-sides coverage to notice how divorced from reality Republican politicians have truly become.

Republicans are struggling to refute this simple line of attack because it is true. Their policies, demeanors, and general vibe are just plain weird. The RNC was a freak show celebrating it before it became a liability! Their attempts to point out Democratic weirdness so far have been focused on quirky individuals who are weird in the cool sense and have neither the desire nor power to impose their weirdness on others.

There are still three months before the election, which is a lot of time, but not long enough for these weirdos to stop being creeps.

House Programming Guide

This Congress is barely a month old and already beyond parody. I suppose I’ll continue mocking them until the last checks on their power are gone and our country completes its final spin down the toilet bowl.

I didn’t watch the State of the Union, since that’s always old news by the end of the week it happens. All the genius pundits say it’s the unofficial start of the 2024 campaign, so say goodbye to any meaningful legislation getting passed through this bunch.

I watched The Menu instead. Highly recommended and not just because of the shoutout to my hometown of Brockton, MA.

Chuck Schumer’s Senate Schedule

Democrats secured another Senate seat this week and that should improve the confirmation and committee process over there. But the House is in Republican hands, so we’ll be lucky if a bare bones funding bill can get through both chambers before another financial crisis.

My meta-commentary about 2024 isn’t technically about 2024, but consider me part of the problem.

GOP Midterm Messaging

You don’t roll out a new advertising campaign until after Labor Day. With the midterms coming up, the GOP is in need of a new one. They’re currently polling lower than Democrats, which is surprising if you have the same view of Democratic leadership as I do.

This could all change in two months, but for now, it’s nice to see them ineptly flailing about for once.

2021 Valentine Cards

Governors want you to go indoor dining on Valentine’s, so book your St. Paddy’s ICU while you’re at it.

A fun week to goof on Marjorie Taylor Greene, and eventually expel her, but basing the entire 2022 midterm campaign on “Q-Anon is crazy!” will get much worse results than actually passing a robust stimulus that puts dollars in voters’ wallets.
