Heading into the final weeks of the year and threw together some unrelated news gags together to get ahead of schedule. AI art is this year’s NFTs. Everywhere at the moment, but its ubiquity will be its undoing. Or so I tell myself.
There was an unveiling ceremony for a new Nancy Reagan stamp at the White House this week. Combined with Biden’s claims of McConnell and other Republicans being reasonable, I’m not too confident that tonight’s insurrection hearing will have much effect on stopping our slide into fascism.
Happy to be wrong, though!
The Supreme Court has been rigging elections since I was first eligible to vote in a Presidential election in 2000. I was in college at the time and too lazy to vote absentee (Maryland and Massachusetts went to Gore, so don’t blame me.), but I learned my lesson and voted in every election since. For twenty years, massive turnout has been needed to overcome the voter suppression of Republicans and their Supreme flunkies, and this year’s obstacles are even worse.
Besides stealing an election, sabotaging the Postal Service will result in people not getting medicine, and countless other essentials needed to survive the pandemic, or in general. They don’t care about murder, but killing the one part of the economy that was still kind of working probably isn’t in their own self-interest. Almost like they didn’t think this through!
On top of the current crisis and depression, the Post Office has an insane requirement to fund its pensions 75 years into the future. Eliminate that, add postal banking while you’re at it, and it’ll be able to help us all survive the next several months of quarantine.
