2025 Freak-Out Forecast

Everyone’s closing out the year by panicking over planes, planets, drones and stars. What stupidity awaits in 2025? Besides the big demented fascist I’ve purposely avoided drawing for a while. I’m going to try and not think about that for the next week, and think about a big demented gift-giving elf instead.

C.E.O. Safety with Big Business Brain

It’s been almost two years since we last visited this guy. I’ll preface this with the obvious statement that murder is bad. However, sympathy is not mandatory and there a thousands more victims higher on my empathy list than some guy who got rich by denying people health care.

The same people who shrugged after Sandy Hook and a coup are now concerned that our nation’s decades old gun and domestic terrorism epidemics could affect them. This will probably lead to even more bloated police budgets, when their jobs continue to be done by snitches at McDonald’s.

Wearable Tech Expo

Things are still bad, and tech companies are still trying to make VR a thing, including Apple now. No matter how hard Silicon Valley tries, VR will always be a niche thing for nerds, just like comics that make fun of them. Even wearable tech has an upper limit of people willing to pair and charge all that shit, THEN strap it on. People wear pajamas to the grocery store for a reason.

Volunteers for Elon Musk’s brain chip are a whole other thing. And that thing’s a cult.

Actual bad things continued to happen in the world, but I needed a break. I’m starting to suspect following and commenting on everything terrible about our current dystopia might be making me less fun at parties.

A.I. for Government and Business

I know there was an actual Trump indictment and arraignment this week, but I have to get ahead for some real-life stuff and did an evergreen comic.

AI’s always invoked to replace labor, never management or any job that wields actual power. I’m decades away from the last time I wrote a computer program, but I guarantee you it’s easier to automate the work of the guys who turn spreadsheets into human misery than anyone doing anything useful for society.
