Booster Shot Thoughts

Read the comic on Patreon.

I got a Moderna booster with a flu shot chaser on Sunday. The first two Pfizer doses barely affected me at all, but that combo wiped me out on Monday. Nothing too bad, but as someone who’s written and drawn dozens of comics during colds and flus, this was the first time I couldn’t whip something up. Jokes will keep coming, just like the parade of bummers this country keeps heaping on us.

Stay safe out there whether you’re travelling or not. A lot of unvaccinated dummies are going to make this winter worse than last.

Climate Conference Swag Bag

The 26th United Nations climate conference is wrapping up today. China and the US made a pinky swear promise today to do something in the future, so maybe this whole cartoon is moot and the climate will be fine now.

Final Climate Warning Signs

The week began with the IPCC’s dire report about climate change. And my Nib cartoon for the week also covered it:

I know defeatism is not cool and we’re supposed to take this warning to be spurred into demanding action from our government, but have you met our government?

We’re living in the disaster right now, and Biden is urging OPEC to pump more oil. Not sure the Sunrise Movement is on that fossil’s agenda.

Now I’m off to endure the third or fourth heat wave of Boston’s summer.

Fox Weather Channel

Pretty neat that every cable subscription underwrites Murdoch’s trash that’s been undermining democracy for 25+ years.

As for actual weather news, my phone’s been telling me to prepare for lots of flooding tomorrow due to Elsa’s remnants. If that’s the worst weather we get this summer, I’ll consider myself lucky.

Secondary Climate Emergencies

Read the comic on Patreon.

We just had a lengthy heat wave here in Boston. This year’s droughts are going to make last year’s wildfires look like nothing. New records for carbon in the atmosphere are being set every week.

And the infrastructure bill that may or may not happen is having all climate mitigation efforts stripped out of it.

Oh, yeah, and the pandemic is still not under control, despite what it feels like here in America.

See you next week with more jokes!

The Texas GOP’s Climate Emergency Tips

Hoping for a quick recovery to everyone in Texas except these guys!

I’ve lived in the Mid-Atlantic and even they don’t have the infrastructure to deal with snow or a prolonged cold snap, so what’s happening in the South is extra-horrifying. Add that to Texas’ electric grid being isolated from the rest of the country to escape regulations, and yikes. This is Katrina levels bad, with a year-long pandemic to boot.

5.6 million Texans voted for Biden, more than in any state in Northeast. I tried to focus my smug disdain solely on the politicians and corporations responsible, and not the people who are suffering.

Conservative Vibes Only

Cheer up, at least I didn’t draw Mitch doing hot yoga.

Every week brings new horrors, and while I understand the urgent need to remove Trump, if nothing’s done about the Senate and this fucking guy, nothing’s going to improve until his Polio finishes the job it started many decades ago.
