Reflecting Pool Party

The Reflecting Pool Saga has been an amusing synecdoche for this administration’s incompetence. Unlike everything else they’ve touched, no actual people have been killed (yet, and sorry to diminish the lives of those poor ducks), although several have been arrested for touching the paint that JJ Carafo was paid $1.7 million to slap on there before it immediately started peeling.

Somehow people manage to maintain large pools throughout the world, even in Florida, without them becoming toxic sludge within a week. But every contractor who knows what they’re doing knows Trump doesn’t honor contracts, so only grifters were left to do the grifter-in-chief’s work for his tacky 250th July 4th celebrations in DC.

Our country stinks, but I’ll be celebrating anyway, eating lobster rolls somewhere away from all the tourists in Boston for the holiday, and watching illegal fireworks neighbors smuggled south from New Hampshire. I hope you’ll be having some fun over the long weekend too.

Join the War on U.S. Cities

The fascist wrath of this administration continues to be applied to anyone and anywhere unwilling to capitulate to its whims. This week, jackboots from various federal agencies were sent to harass DC because DOGE’s “Big Balls” got his shit wrecked by teens. He got off easy after he helped condemn millions to death with cuts to USAID and other essential agencies. I hope he cried real hard about his boo-boo.

Everyone who isn’t in Democratic leadership knew this was coming, but only one side stockpiled weapons. I can only hope we have enough sandwich ingredients and can unify the anti-fascist factions of the country before they descend into infighting about what to call subs/hoagies/grinders.

White House Sophistry Briefing

With Title 42 coming to end (only because they’re ending the pandemic emergency declaration in May), the Biden administration has begun floating the idea of bringing family detainment back. That’s the same thing that caused all the good liberals with signs on their lawns to protest “kids in cages” when Trump did it.

The White House has also recently stymied any hope of D.C. self rule, refused to condemn Israel’s super-apartheid government fomenting violence in the West Bank, and generally doing everything it can to wipe out their 2020 campaign platform.

Now I get to sit back and wait for angry emails telling me how rude I am for criticizing this administration when Republicans are much, much worse.
