2025 Corporate Media Style Guide

After less than a week of insane (and illegal, if laws were still real) executive orders, the mainstream media has rolled over and showed its belly to the second Trump administration. The publishers and owners signaled this move was coming throughout the election, but to see them all become state media apparatuses overnight was jarring.

When these policies were first introduced to the public with coverage of Project 2025, the public recoiled, because it’s unpopular Nazi shit. The media gave Trump a boost by letting him claim he disavowed it, but now that he’s practically signing copies with each executive order, they’re desperately trying to spin their audiences into favoring it or pretending it’s not happening.

Unfortunately, mainstream media’s not the only one doing it. Democratic leadership seems to be using this same playbook instead of acting anything like an opposition party.

Evergreen Trump II Cartoons

I’m not going to repeat my 2017-2021 comics with weekly renderings of this bozo and his rotating cadre of fascist flunkies’ every outrageous move. Since the election, a lot of editorial cartoonists have almost gleefully returned to that era with nonstop “Can ya believe this?!” comics, and yeah, we believe it. It’s happened twice.

Pointing out the awfulness of the imminent administration is probably the most well-covered topic of the past decade. I’m almost as bored with the subject as I am terrified of what’s to come. I’ll highlight mutual aid and direction action, but will probably make more jokes about things unrelated to current events to give myself, and hopefully readers, a break from this shitty human being.

Panhandling for Pardons

That’s a wrap on the Joe Biden interregnum. He did more than I thought he would in that time … until he threw it all away to support Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

The rest of this comic and blog post is up for subscribers over on Patreon. I may hate capitalism, but I’m still living under it.

The Plutocrats

Oligarchs, plutocrats, whatever you want to call them, they’re all breaking their necks to be the first to lick Trump’s boots before he’s even sworn in for the second time. Something really is wrong with billionaire brains because they’re the one class that doesn’t have to think or worry about the guy at all. They’re gonna be fine!

They’re each uniquely awful in their own ways, but Zuckerberg’s latest move to explicitly throw LGBTQ+ people under the bus might be the most craven. He’s so convinced people won’t leave his platforms that he’s copying what Elon Musk did to Twitter and not expecting half its userbase to leave.

Maybe there are enough people addicted to Facebook and Instagram for that to succeed, but I won’t be posting anything there besides links that no one sees anyway.

Winter Reading Pile

I hope your holidays were relaxing enough to get you rested for the long slog through the rest of winter and the years to come. I’m still avoiding drawing you-know-who to pace myself for what’s coming, but even with my limited news consumption over the holidays, I’m already suffering from Elon/Trump burnout.

I’m not going to tune out of the news like many people have wisely done since the election, and I’m sure I’ll be drawing those shitheads a lot, but I can’t do another four years of “GET A LOAD OF THIS BOZO!” every week. It obviously had no effect the last time I did it, so why subject myself to that again?

That’s the long way of saying I want to try different approaches this time around. I’m not yet sure what that’ll look like, but let’s find out!

2025 Freak-Out Forecast

Everyone’s closing out the year by panicking over planes, planets, drones and stars. What stupidity awaits in 2025? Besides the big demented fascist I’ve purposely avoided drawing for a while. I’m going to try and not think about that for the next week, and think about a big demented gift-giving elf instead.

Incredible Global News 2024

It’s that time of year for a recurring bit I use to get ahead for the holidays. I have one more to draw before I close the books on this miserable year. Even though there’s always more bad news to come, I’m giving myself the gift of mostly ignoring it until after the New Year.

C.E.O. Safety with Big Business Brain

It’s been almost two years since we last visited this guy. I’ll preface this with the obvious statement that murder is bad. However, sympathy is not mandatory and there a thousands more victims higher on my empathy list than some guy who got rich by denying people health care.

The same people who shrugged after Sandy Hook and a coup are now concerned that our nation’s decades old gun and domestic terrorism epidemics could affect them. This will probably lead to even more bloated police budgets, when their jobs continue to be done by snitches at McDonald’s.
