Republicans are abandoning the Trump Train, and Clinton’s rolling out the welcome mat. I hope her tent is big enough to keep John Negroponte far away from wherever the Clinton campaign’s foreign policy is being written.

The other party’s having a convention this week. Instead of being outright racist and hateful, they are simply comically inept. It’s great to have choices in a democracy!

Election years, which last for 16 months now, are a period where everyone goes bonkers and nothing gets done but a lot of shouting. This year is even worse, since one of the major party nominees is a narcissistic demagogue who’s normalizing a kind of hatred that will persist in our politics for years to come.

New York’s primary matters for the first time in decades, and all of the remaining candidates are doing some campaign pandering in the Big Apple. Events are scheduled in the rest of the state of course, but with 8 million people, and the headquarters of the media, there’s been substantially more emphasis on NYC.
I couldn’t resist including a little Easter egg for my fellow Red Sox fans. I’m thankful baseball season’s back, where even the Yankees-Sox rivalry is more civil than electoral politics.

The primaries have just begun, and the party in-fighting will get even more heated for another month or so, making social media a veritable wasteland of outrage and insufferability. When the dust settles and the nominee is known, they’ll have to kiss and make up with the supporters of the candidates they’ve spent all winter savaging.
