Camp Corruption

Another session of the Federalist Society’s judicial junta struck down affirmative action, the racial equality kind, at least. Rich legacy white failsons are still able to get admitted.

I’m not sure how many years of being screamed at to “VOTE!” I can take when these fascists strike down anything nerds like Leonard Leo and his billionaire donors don’t like. The courts have to be packed before it’s too late, if it’s not already.

Orcas

It’s Hot Orca Summer. They’ve been making news since before Memorial Day. Besides attacking boats in the eastern Atlantic and ripping the livers out of great whites, several have been spotted off Cape Cod, which is pretty rare for this part of the world.

The oceans are breaking records for heat this year, and hurricane season is just getting started in the Atlantic. At least the Democrats gave Joe Manchin his pipelines so this will only be the hottest summer until next year’s.

In other ocean news: I am aware of the Titanic-gawking submersible that dominated the news until it was evident that it imploded and the less-covered migrant ship tragedy that preceded it. I couldn’t find an appropriate way to squeeze either in, but I’m sure I’ll make fun of OceanGate’s shitty little death tube at some point.

Have a summah!

Hoard-A-Lago

The most recent indictment for Trump seems pretty thorough and damning with lots of incriminating photos of stolen documents scattered around Mar-A-Lago. I did a cartoon about this when the stolen documents, subpoenas and warrants first came out last year.

I’m still skeptical any consequences will befall this horribly lucky bastard. The judge presiding over this case is Trump flunkie Aileen Cannon, who now has a chance to beat Aileen Wournos as Florida’s Worst Aileen.

Wearable Tech Expo

Things are still bad, and tech companies are still trying to make VR a thing, including Apple now. No matter how hard Silicon Valley tries, VR will always be a niche thing for nerds, just like comics that make fun of them. Even wearable tech has an upper limit of people willing to pair and charge all that shit, THEN strap it on. People wear pajamas to the grocery store for a reason.

Volunteers for Elon Musk’s brain chip are a whole other thing. And that thing’s a cult.

Actual bad things continued to happen in the world, but I needed a break. I’m starting to suspect following and commenting on everything terrible about our current dystopia might be making me less fun at parties.

Hate Month Gear

After threats and cringey stunts from bigoted goobers, Target removed a bunch of items designed for Pride Month. They claimed it was for “employee safety” rather than caving to stochastic terrorism, but there’s no difference in practice. This follows Bud Light shamelessly backtracking on a promotion they did with a trans influencer. Now all of their beers are going to be covered in flags and Punisher skulls.

I hope everyone has a safe, wonderful and peaceful pride month (and life) except for cops, courts, and Republicans.
