Climate Exhaustion or Climate Denial

A heat dome has settled over a good chunk of the United States, including New England, where it’s already 95°F/35°C, and expected to pass 100°F/38°C tomorrow. This has resulted in the usual media frenzy of informing people about the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, all while undermining the seriousness of the threat with B-roll of people having fun at the beach or something similar.
Thousands have died in Europe’s most recent heat wave, since everything there was built for mild summers, before record heat became the new normal. Many Americans have been pretty smug about it, like their window units aren’t costing them hundreds of dollars a month with our antiquated electric grid. Before anyone gloats about their heat pumps and solar, please remember that I rent and my apartment’s currently too hot for your homeowning bullshit.
Stay cool, and be cool this weekend. Don’t let the climate deniers take all of us out with them.
